چکیده

This patient had clear evidence of ectopic adrenocorticotrophic hormone syndrome secondary to oat-cell carcinoma of lung. In association with this and as an initial feature she had a spontaneous cure of lifelong psoriasis. We think that these two events were related and can find no other reports of this unusual phenomenon. Just as the onset of certain skin lesions may herald an underlying neoplasm2 before it is symptomatic, so may the disappearance of one, as in our case.

Treatment of methylene chloride induced carbon monoxide poisoning with hyperbaric oxygenation.

Methylene chloride is an organic solvent with many industrial uses. Inhalation of methylene chloride fumes can result in toxicity, caused by hepatic biotransformation of methylene chloride to carbon monoxide. A case of acute methylene chloride poisoning is presented, including successful treatment of this patient with the use of hyperbaric oxygenation. The rationale for the use of hyperbaric ox...

Methylene chloride poisoning in a cabinet worker.

More than a million workers are at risk for methylene chloride exposure. Aerosol sprays and paint stripping may also cause significant nonoccupational exposures. After methylene chloride inhalation, significant amounts of carbon monoxide are formed in vivo as a metabolic by-product. Poisoning predominantly affects the central nervous system and results from both carboxyhemoglobin formation and ...

Dichloromethane Injection: Case Report

Background: Dichloromethane (a chlorinated hydrocarbon) is normally used as a solvent. Dichloromethane poisoning has been reported from occupational exposure and the common routes of dichloromethane poisoning are ingestion and inhalation. Case presentation: We described a case of 51-year-old man who received subcutaneous injection of dichloromethane and presented with local wound necrosis at hi...

Carbon Monoxide by V. Beasley; A2650.0899

The primary cause of death in most smoke inhalation toxicoses in small animals is believed to be carbon monoxide (CO) toxicosis. Thermal injury to the respiratory tract is another part of the syndrome in many cases. Toxic injury to the respiratory tract from noxious gases and particulates is often a third significant component of the process. Chapter Sections Smoke Inhalation Methylene Chloride...

Toxic Action Data for the Mixture of Concern and Component Mixtures

Toxicological data or PBPK models were not available for any of the threeor four-component submixtures. Toxicological data were available only for the binary mixture of carbon monoxide and methylene chloride; toxicological data on the other binary submixtures were not located. PBPK models for methylene chloride generally contain components describing the metabolism of methylene chloride to form...
